Paul Smith launches the brand new AW17 PS collection at Pitti Uomo.
Launching yesterday at Florence’s most marvelled fashion event, Pitti Uomo, the newly re-defined PS by Paul Smith collection has all the hallmarks of a traditional Paul Smith collection. Full of bold colours, vivid prints and playful detailing, the PS by Paul Smith collection brings out the best of Paul Smith’s style signatures and adapts them for the ultimate AW17 style. Influenced by sportswear and Smith’s personal love of cycling (check the City-Cycling Suit, cut from durable Condura fabric), the collection features life-proof enhancements and design functions that are made to stand the test of our modern lives.
The collection was presented in Dogana, Florence, and the show itself was as innovative as the collection. With Smith joined by 8 UK-based performers, choreographed by Jamie Neale and came from a range of disciplines including ballet and acrobatic gymnastics, the show consisted of the performers dancing, melding together their various styles, to represent the versatility of the PS by Paul Smith collection. Set to a soundtrack of some great musical heroes – David Bowie, George Michael and Prince – the presentation captured the full spirit of the PS by Paul Smith AW17 collection (and the artisanal La Mi’Bionda beer and Italian negronis were fabulous too.)
Paul Smith said, “It’s fantastic to be back in Florence. I first worked with Pitti in 1993 and was the first designer to have a catwalk show in the iconic Stazione Leopolda. Now I’m here to launch my PS by Paul Smith collection with an energetic presentation that is packed full of surprises.”
